Minecraft for education

Today, students from Colquitz middle school came to our class to teach us how to play Minecraft. Their teacher Heidi James came along with them to explain how she uses Minecraft in her classroom. Heidi uses Minecraft in units surrounding social studies, science and math. She explained how collaborative Minecraft is and how students are always working together.

It was a really fun experience working with the kids from Colquitz. They were super enthusiastic and approachable to ask questions. At first I felt embarrassed asking questions however the students were extremely nice about it and did not make me feel awkward at all! Heidi explained the different teacher controls on the minecraft for education and different strategies she uses when monitoring the game.

Heidi explained many different ways that Minecraft can be incorporated into the curriculum and content. I am excited to use this skill in my future classroom!
